Vandeca participates in the Kiwanis Galloo Run 2023

On Saturday, May 13, 2023, the 5th edition of the Kiwanis Galloo Run took place in Menen. During this special event, people with disabilities get the chance to ride along in a classic car, dream car or truck.

Vandeca also participated in 2023. For our first participation, we brought out the candy truck of our own brand Les Folies De Lowie®. Dieter drove and Lieselot rode along as an enthusiastic co-driver.

It was a day full of happy faces, colorful candy, and beautiful memories.

a special Kiwanis Galloo Run in Menen

The Kiwanis Galloo Run is organized by Kiwanis Wervik-Tabaksstreek and revolves around one central goal: to provide people with disabilities a special and unforgettable day.

During the event, a striking procession of trucks, classic cars, and dream cars travels through the region. The participants ride along in the vehicles, while residents and other spectators cheer on the procession along the route.

In 2023, the ride started at De Koekuit in Menen.

For us, it was immediately clear why so many people commit to this initiative year after year: the atmosphere and enthusiasm along the way were infectious.

Les Folies De Lowie® participates with the candy truck

For our participation, we naturally chose a vehicle that perfectly suits Vandeca: the colorful candy truck of Les Folies De Lowie®.

Dieter, founder of Vandeca, was behind the wheel. Lieselot rode alongside him.

From the start at De Koekuit, the atmosphere was immediately great. Many people were waiting along the streets for the passing vehicles, and from the candy truck, Dieter and Lieselot had an excellent view of all the enthusiastic reactions.

We may not have been the largest vehicle in the procession, but with a truck full of candy, it was difficult for us to move unnoticed through Menen.

handing out candy along the route

A candy truck without candy would be strange.

As the Vandeca truck drove through Menen, Dieter and Lieselot handed out candy to spectators along the route.

Even after the ride, many candies were still distributed to the event participants.

The colorful treats added extra joy along the way and made the ride particularly fun for us as well.

Anyone curious about the kind of treats our candy truck is named after can find, in addition to Les Folies De Lowie®, a wide range of candy from various well-known brands at Vandeca.

an unforgettable experience for Lieselot

For Lieselot, the ride was an unforgettable experience.

Afterwards, her reaction was clear:

"Next year I want to go again with Dieter in his candy truck. It was really cool."

For Dieter, Lieselot's enthusiasm and that of the other participants was one of the most beautiful memories of the day.

"The smile on Lieselot's face was priceless. I find it incredibly important to participate in social initiatives."

The Galloo Run once again showed how much difference a joint initiative can make when organizations, volunteers, drivers, and participants come together.

local involvement that suits Vandeca

Vandeca is located in Menen. That's why we find it extra valuable when we can participate in initiatives that bring together people from our own region.

For us, local involvement is not just about being present. It's primarily about helping to create joyful moments and memories.

The Kiwanis Galloo Run perfectly aligned with that.

Dieter put it this way afterwards:

"Our participation in the Kiwanis Galloo Run was a success on many levels. Not only did we show our involvement, but we also made a special day possible for people with disabilities. This is definitely worth repeating."

our first Galloo Run tasted like more

The Kiwanis Galloo Run 2023 was a day for Vandeca to look back on with great pleasure.

From the ride through Menen and handing out candy to the enthusiasm of Lieselot and all other participants: it was mainly the smiles along the way that stuck with us.

Our first participation immediately confirmed that we would love to participate again.

And as it later turned out, it was indeed not the only edition.

Thanks to Kiwanis Wervik-Tabaksstreek, the volunteers, drivers, participants, and everyone along the route who made the Galloo Run 2023 such a special day.
