Vandeca and Libeert share Christmas joy with Xplo

The holidays are all about enjoying time together, but also about sharing. That's why an overstock of Libeert chocolate at Vandeca found a special new purpose.

After the Sinterklaas period, we still had several chocolate products in stock. Instead of letting them go to waste, we decided, in consultation with Libeert, to donate the chocolate to Xplo, an organization that supports children, young people, and families.

This allowed us to limit food waste and make an extra difference for others during the holidays.

Xplo supports children, young people, and families

Xplo is active in youth welfare in Central and South-West Flanders.

The organization guides children, young people, and families who are confronted with difficulties related to parenting, living together, or their place in society. This is done through various forms of guidance and support, tailored to the specific situation of each family.

Xplo describes its goal as giving children and young people maximum opportunities to further develop themselves.

Extra resources and material donations can also make a difference in this regard.

As Xplo itself puts it:

"Only with your support can we offer our children, young people, and families that little bit extra, with which we can help them further on their way."

For us, it was therefore a wonderful destination for chocolate that was still perfectly usable after the Sinterklaas period.

Libeert chocolate gets a new purpose

Seasonal chocolate brings the same challenge every year.

During Sinterklaas, Christmas, or Easter, the demand for specific chocolate figures is particularly high. As soon as such a holiday period is over, that same chocolate can become commercially much less relevant.

Of course, that doesn't mean the chocolate suddenly has no value anymore.

That's why at Vandeca, we prefer to look for a meaningful purpose for usable overstock rather than waste.

For this donation too, we could count on smooth cooperation with Libeert. Thanks to their support, the remaining chocolate could go to Xplo and provide extra indulgence during the holiday period.

Chocolate certainly doesn't solve big problems.

But a small treat can provide an extra cozy moment during the holidays.

With this donation, we hoped to bring a little extra Christmas joy to children, young people, and families supported by Xplo.

Especially during a period when togetherness, gifts, and good food are so central, we find it valuable that overstock can still find a positive and delicious destination.

This donation aligns with a broader idea that we at Vandeca consider important: products that are still perfectly usable deserve a new purpose if possible.

This applies not only to chocolate. With other overstock of sweets or cookies, we also prefer to look for opportunities to donate products rather than let them go to waste unnecessarily.
